Review: Arby's - Cinnamon Apple Crisp

Arby's new Cinnamon Apple Crisp features baked spiced cinnamon apples and cake, topped with granola, caramel, whipped cream, and dusted with cinnamon.

I bought one for $2.39.

This comes in the same container/cup as the Chocolate Molten Lava Cake, although the Cinnamon Apple Crispy costs 40 cents more in my area.

I initially thought it was just baked cinnamon apples with crunchy stuff on top, which is what I think of when I hear "apple crisp,"' but surprise! There was actually plain cake in the bottom half. It looked to be a soft, moist, and dense cake that fell somewhere between yellow cake and pound cake.

The apples were pretty plentiful without too much sauce like you get in some fast food pies. They were soft and sweet, but not too tart. They went really well with the cake as well as the cinnamon and whipped cream on top.

The granola wasn't crunchy at all, but added an enjoyable brown-sugared sweetness.

I didn't really taste caramel in there, but maybe it was just lost against the other ingredients (I guess brown sugar is similar, but caramel has that butteriness).

Overall, Arby's Cinnamon Apple Crisp was really good! It's a little bit like warm apple pie but with mushy granola (more like sweetened oatmeal) and moist cake instead of crust. The cinnamon and whipped cream were actually essential to the dessert rather than just garnish or an afterthought.
