Review: Burger King - Yumbo Hot Ham & Cheese Sandwich

Burger King's Yumbo Hot Ham & Cheese Sandwich consists of thin-sliced black forest ham, American cheese, lettuce, and mayo on the same sesame seed hoagie bun.

It was $4.29 for one, or two for $5 at my local Burger King.

This probably tastes like you expect. For me, it reminds me of the sandwiches my mom packed for field trips back when I was in elementary school. The ingredients are the same except for the bread, which was plain white sandwich bread.

First off, the Yumbo was not hot, it was barely lukewarm. The cheese was just slightly melted and the ham delivered a decent flavor, although it was actually a little too salty. More lettuce would have helped.

The lettuce was fine; it wasn't quite crisp but it was green and not wilted. The mayo adds a nice flavor but they could have spread it out a little better (they only covered about half the bun).

Overall, Burger King's Yumbo Hot Ham & Cheese Sandwich is okay in the way that you'd quickly put together a ham and cheese sandwich at home in a minute or less. I suppose it's convenient if you're not in the habit of stocking sandwich ingredients at home and only want one (or two) and happen to be near a Burger King.

The timing for the Yumbo is also pretty bad, since it arrived during Subway's $2 6-inch Cold Cut Combo deal, which is cheaper and lets you choose from a selection of veggies, bread, and cheese.
