Review: Jack in the Box - Chicken Fajita Pita

Jack in the Box's Chicken Fajita Pita features grilled chicken pieces, shredded cheddar cheese, lettuce, grilled onions, and tomato, nestled inside of a pita with 16 grams of whole grain. Fire-roasted salsa comes on the side.

It costs $4.99 at my local Jack in the Box.

The pita about a little bigger than a Jumbo Jack in diameter, but offers more in terms of thickness (i.e there seems to be more fillings). It's a little chewy but very sturdy.

The shredded cheddar cheese is a nice touch. In the absence of any strong sauce or seasoning, it adds a nice flavor.

The grilled chicken pieces come in good-sized chunks but are a little overly firm rather than tender. It has a bit of an odd texture, like if you took shredded chicken and fused it into chunks. I didn't mind it but it's worth noting.

The lettuce and tomato were pretty fresh. I wonder if some onions might also work well here.
The salsa is completely necessary and gives the whole sandwich some much needed punch. The Chicken Fajita Pita is fairly plain with complementary but subtle flavors on it's own but really comes alive once you add the salsa (their taco sauce might also work well, especially if you want some extra heat).

Overall, Jack in the Box's Chicken Fajita is really nice, especially if you're looking for something lighter on the menu (which people tend to do around this time of year). Just don't forget the salsa.
