Bertolli's Chicken Carbonara and Farfalle frozen meal features farfalle pasta with white meat chicken and bacon in a creamy Alfredo sauce.
A 10-oz box was
$1.88 on sale.
The box touts "al dente" just above the product name and uses a separate steam basket with most of the ingredients on top of a bowl with the Alfredo sauce. While I wouldn't call it al dente, the pasta does retain a nice bit of firmness. Additionally since the meal steams without an immediate vent, none of the pasta dried out.
The Alfredo sauce looked a bit watery but thickened a little as it cooled and clung to the pasta very well. It's not the traditional sauce for carbonara but I guess they can't crack an uncooked egg in the more standard fashion.
The chicken came in decently thick slices with a fairly good texture to them. The bacon was soft and cut into tiny pieces but lent an enjoyable smokiness to everything.
The peas added a little bit of sweetness and light crispness.
Overall' Bertolli's Chicken Carbonara and Farfalle was really good and makes a quick and convenient solution for when you have a hankering for carbonara.
