Starbucks Offers Coconut Milk Starting February 17, 2015

Starting February 17, 2015, Starbucks stores in the U.S. will offer coconut milk as an alternative to milk in their beverages.

Specifically, they'll be offering Starbucks Single Origin Sumatra Coconut Milk. It's certified vegan and made from coconuts grown in Sumatra, Indonesia.

Getting coconut milk in your drink will cost an extra 60 cents over milk. The only other non-dairy alternative offered by Starbucks is soymilk, which also costs an extra 60 cents.

Apparently, the addition was spurred by customers on MyStarbucksIdea.com,where a non-dairy alternative to dairy and soy is the second most requested customer idea of all time in the "Coffee & Espresso Drink" category with over 90,000 votes. Of course, other choices they could have gone with to fit the idea include almond milk and rice milk. In fact, the most requested customer idea of all time currently is for almond milk (with over 95,000 votes). It should be noted that rival Dunkin' Donuts recently added almond milk as a non-dairy alternative late last year.
