It goes for $4.89 in my area but I received this one courtesy of Jack in the Box.
While I'm all for bacon and burgers, the Bacon & Swiss Buttery Jack turned out to be less impressive than the Classic Buttery Jack and, interestingly, it's not for any lack of flavor or quality but rather because there are too many strong flavors competing.
While Jack's hickory-smoked bacon comes in the typical fast food thinness, it packs an enjoyable smoky, porky flavor. It wasn't exactly crispy but it was good. The bacon mayo was sharp and salty on its own but accentuated and added to the bacony goodness.
The single Swiss came sliced quite finely and contributed a vague creaminess. I'm sure it's nice enough on it's own but due to the thinness and the punch of the other components, it's mostly wasted in the Bacon & Swiss Buttery Jack.
Overall, Jack in the Box's Bacon & Swiss Buttery Jack was still very enjoyable especially if you like bacon burgers, but several of the key components, namely the Swiss and the butter, are largely lost in the shuffle. For that reason, I prefer the Classic over the Bacon & Swiss Buttery Jack as the more balanced, and better, of Jack's two new premium burgers.
