Review: Dunkin' Donuts - Spicy Omelet Flatbread

Dunkin’ Donuts' Spicy Omelet Flatbread features a spicy omelet, bacon, and white cheddar cheese on an oven-toasted flatbread.

I picked one up for $3.49.

Dunkin’ Donuts recently re-introduced their spicy omelet as an option on any of their breakfast sandwiches as a substitute for the regular egg. The omelet itself contains pepper jack cheese, habanero and red bell peppers, and diced jalapenos. For all the spicy ingredients they claim it contains, I was underwhelmed by the heat of my sandwich. The red bell peppers were the most prominent flavor to come from the egg. It’s a nice change from a regular egg but it didn't bring the heat at all.

The bacon on the flatbread was also disappointing. I could barely taste it through the egg and cheese and it had no crispiness to it. If I were to try the spicy omelet again, I’d definitely pick a more substantial meat like sausage or chicken.

The flatbread itself was pretty simple. Dunkin’ uses a multigrain flatbread so it’s not quite the softest but it does have a good wheaty taste. I had no problems with it but it couldn’t save this sandwich.

Overall, Dunkin’ Donuts’ Spicy Omelet Flatbread missed the mark on too many points for this sandwich to be good. The highlight of the sandwich was the cheese. The bacon might as well have been missing and the omelet was disappointing. I know chain restaurants tend not to market items that are way too spicy but this barely registered on the heat scale.
