Review: Kettle Brand Red Curry Potato Chips

Kettle Brand Red Curry Potato Chips feature kettle-cooked potato chips with the flavor of Thai red curry.

I picked up an 8.5-oz bag for $2.50 on sale.

This is one of the more interesting chip flavors I've come across. There's a complexity to the chip that isn't heavily tilted in any particular direction. It starts out with a seasoned savory punch that mellows out into a little bit of tangy sweetness before a lemongrass-thai basil finish. To top it off, there's also just a slight bit of heat. It's missing that creamy coconut component I was expecting though.

Beyond the seasoning, you get that standard hard crunch of kettle-cooked potato chips but the potato flavor mostly melds into the seasoning rather than is overpowered by it.

Overall, I quite enjoyed Kettle Brand's Red Curry Potato Chips even though it doesn't exactly make me think red curry (then again I don't eat red curry all that much). For me, it's a chip where I kind of just sit there and try to make out the various flavors and ingredients. With so much going on, it probably tastes like different things to different people.
