Bertolli Stuffed Shells alla Vodka frozen meal features three ricotta and parmesan-stuffed pasta shells in a creamy tomato sauce.
I bought a 10.6-oz box for
$2 on sale.
The shells turned out on the firm side for those of you who prefer al dente pasta. I ate it with a fork, but you might want to go with a knife as well; the pasta was a little hard to break with just the side of the fork.
Inside each shell was a lot of ricotta, which provided a savory, if a little grainy, counterbalance to the creamy, tangy sauce. The parmesan came in lightly for a bit of flavor. There's also a bit of mozzarella on top but not enough to add that melty, gooey feel.
The sauce offered a suitably thick consistency with a good amount of substance to it. The hearty tomato and creamy combo was accompanied by a slight herbiness and just a bare hint of a mild vodka vibe at the tail end.
Overall, Bertolli Stuffed Shells alla Vodka was fairly enjoyable, especially if you like pasta with cheese or, rather, cheese with pasta. I prefer some sort of meat with my pasta but it was still pretty tasty.
