New
Quaker Thin Mint flavored Chewy granola bars feature the classic mint chocolate taste of the Girl Scout cookie staple paired with the original chewy granola bar.
I got a box on sale for
$2.
This isn’t the first time the Girl Scouts have dipped a toe in the granola bar market. In 2012, the organization released Tagalong and Double Dutch bars in test markets. I happened upon these new Quaker Chewy Bars along with a Caramel Coconut variety at my local Target and picked up a box. Thin Mints are my go-to Girl Scout cookie so I started with them.
The bar was pretty much exactly what I expected. I was a little afraid that it wouldn’t have the signature Thin Mint flavor, and instead just taste like a minty Chewy bar. But no, biting into the bar, it tasted more like a Thin Mint than anything. Then as I chewed, the granola bar base became dominant.
Neither half of the equation - Thin Mint or Chewy - really dominates the bar. They were blended together well and seemed to suit each other.
Overall, I’m happy with the result of this new partnership. Hopefully they stay on shelves year-round so that I can pick them up when Girl Scout cookies are hard to come by.
