Starbucks Strawberry Shortcake Creme Frappuccino features a blend of strawberries, strawberry juice, vanilla bean, hazelnut syrup, milk, and ice, topped with whipped cream.
I paid
$4.95 for a 16-oz Grande.
While there was a strong tart, strawberry flavor (courtesy of blended freeze-dried strawberries, it looked like) to the shake, the shortcake portion didn't quite work out here. While I tried the hazelnut and vanilla combination before to good results, it didn't quite gel this time and there was a definite hazelnut flavor rather than a cake-like taste.
Texture-wise, the Frappuccino is a little like a watered-down shake, although stirring in the whipped cream moves it closer to an ice cream shake.
Overall, Starbucks Strawberry Shortcake Creme Frappuccino didn't quite deliver on the strawberry shortcake flavor. Instead, it was more like a milky strawberry slush (i.e. their regular Strawberry Creme Frappuccino) tinged with hazelnut, which was a little weird but not bad.
