Buick Looks to Food to Sell You Cars

The car designers at Buick are increasingly turning to food for inspiration in the color of their new vehicles to better appeal to would-be purchasers.

For their new cars, there's a "Choccochino" interior available on the 2016 Enclave and a Toasted Coconut Metallic color available for the new Cascada convertible coming in early 2016.

Other food inspiration include the artichoke, which they drew upon for the green undertones of the Crystalline exterior color of the Buick Avenir concept at the 2015 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

If you're wondering where exactly they're getting this food inspiration, look no further than Instagram: according to the company, Buick designers have more than 178 million images tagged #food on Instagram to draw upon while they're in the studio.

Basically, the idea is if you have a positive attachment to a particular food, you can develop positive associations with the signature color (or colors) of that food. Consider it car marketing aimed at foodies.
