Red Lobster Increases Shrimp Size

Red Lobster is going with larger shrimp for their Shrimp Scampi and Shrimp Skewers. The shrimp are now at least 47 percent and up to 86 larger than before.

The move comes as a result of customer feedback and, according to the chain, impacts nearly 70 percent of lunch and dinner entrees that contain shrimp.

In addition to the larger size, the seafood restaurant chain has looked to improve the taste of their shrimp by changing their preparation. Shrimp Scampi is now made in-house using a buttery classic scampi sauce that is made fresh with white wine and garlic. The Shrimp Skewers are now double-pierced during cooking to better expose the shrimp to the wood-fire grill, while providing more room for saucing. Additionally, the chain's Signature Shrimp Cocktail is now made in-house with shrimp poached in a seasoned broth and then quickly chilled.

The new changes are currently rolling out at Red Lobster restaurants and are meant to be implemented system-wide by mid-December.
