Lean Cuisine's Chicken with Almonds features chicken tenderloins with rice, vegetables, and almonds.
I bought an 8.5-oz box for
$1.47 on sale.
While it's not mentioned on the box, the chicken comes in a light teriyaki-ish sauce. It's much milder than most of the teriyaki sauces that I've come across but still offered the requisite blend of sweet, salty, and tangy.
The chicken tenderloins were super tender but not to the point of being mushy. That taste was nice as well.
The almonds don't come out very well. Their flavor didn't come through much and the crunch wasn't there anymore although there were some vague moments that brought water chestnuts to mind. I think it might be nicer if they came in a little pouch that you add on after cooking, like you sometimes get with a salad.
The rice was the standard frozen meal parboiled stuff. It offered a firmer texture without the stickiness of home-cooked rice.
The vegetables consisted of broccoli, yellow carrots, and green beans. They were soft and mostly flavorless, which could be nice if you don't really like eating vegetables.
Overall, Lean Cuisine's Chicken with Almonds was a mixed bag of good and blah (i.e. the vegetables and almonds) that was still enjoyable due to the mild sauce and tender chicken.
