Burger King's Jalapeno Chicken Fries feature ground white meat chicken shaped roughly into the shaped of fries and breaded with a jalapeno seasoning.
I picked up a 9-piece order for
$3.19.
The boxes are half the fun with these. The Jalapeno Chicken Fries box looks like a sleepy-eyed cartoon chicken dressed as a
mariachi, complete with a sombrero and guitar. The sides of the box sports sayings like "These Chicken Fries are La Bomba" and "I'd mariachi this flavor."
If you like the salty, seasoned taste of original Chicken Fries, there's a lot for you to enjoy here as it serves as the base for a definite but mild jalapeno flavor and heat. The spice level is pretty low but can build to a bit of a burn.
The breading was thick, craggy, and satisfyingly crispy. The fries are really breading first and chicken second, both in flavor and texture. The chicken was spongy, smooth, and a little dry.
I don't recommend this with sauce (at least not the Ranch that I went with) as the jalapeno notes struggled mightily when dipped.
Overall, Burger King's Jalapeno Chicken Fries make for a fine addition to the line, adding just enough interest and novelty to the base product without straying back to previous flavors.
