Church's Honey-Butter Biscuit Tenders feature chicken breast strips dipped in Honey-Butter Biscuit batter and then fried.
Three Tenders, a Honey-Butter Biscuit, and Honey-Butter dipping sauce cost me
$2.99.
The tenders came fairly fresh out of the fryer with a very crunchy shell. Unfortunately, there wasn't much of a biscuit feel or flavor to the breading. There wasn't any sweetness to it and it was overly salty.
Texture-wise, the breading was granular rather than flaky, which reminded me of frozen fried chicken strips, except much crunchier.
They seem to be relying on the Honey-Butter dipping sauce for the Honey-Butter Biscuit feeling but it wasn't working for me. It was a little too sweet with notes of buttery caramel to it. The stuff that they brush on their biscuits seems lighter and better balanced.
Overall, Church's Chicken's Honey-Butter Biscuit Tenders were a miss for me. I didn't like the sauce and there wasn't enough flavor or Honey-Butter Biscuit quality to the Tenders themselves. They might have done better to just offer their regular chicken strips brushed with the same honey-butter mixture they put on their biscuits. I thoroughly enjoyed the accompanying biscuit though.
