Review: Starbucks - S'mores Bar

Starbucks' S'mores Bar features a graham crust with a layer of milk chocolate on top, finished with lightly-toasted marshmallows.

I picked one up for $2.75.

While the appearance of these give it a bit of a homemade feel, the form factor is a little less practical than your standard S'more combination as the chocolate comes right up to the edge of the crust, which ensures that your fingers are getting some chocolate and, given the thinness and crumbly quality of the crust, doesn't give you much to hold on to.

Beyond the tenuous graham cracker gripping surface, the chocolate was a bit too liquid and oily. My guess is the chocolate had either separated or mixed with melted marshmallow, but either way, it ended up dripping out of the bar.

The best part were the marshmallows, which were plentiful and tasty. They hit that sweet spot where they were just melted but not oozing all over (or drippy like the chocolate).

Oil from the S'mores Bar (I promise it's not my drool...)
Overall, Starbucks S'mores Bar was a too-messy version of a typically messy dessert. The taste was good but I wouldn't say it was any better than heating up a graham cracker, a piece of chocolate, and a marshmallow. The S'mores Tart they put out last year was better (although I'd still go with the ones you make at home or one from Blaze Pizza)
