Jack's Brewhouse Bacon Burger is inspired by pub burgers and seeks to deliver that experience along-side the speed and convenience of the fast food drive-thru and service counter.
The new burger features Porter Ale cheese sauce on top of a beef patty along with grilled onions, hickory-smoked bacon, hand-leafed lettuce, and fresh-sliced tomatoes. The finishing touch is a spread of creamy pub sauce on both sides of a toasted artisan potato bun.
The burger represents the chain's first go at a pub-style burger with beer cheese, which contains porter ale (I mentioned at the preview to a Jack in the Box rep that Carl's Jr. was also testing beer cheese on a burger and was told that there isn't actual beer in the Carl's Jr. test. I can't confirm though as Carl's Jr.'s doesn't talk about their tests... at least not to me). The pub sauce was described to me as "mild, yet broadly appealing, so it easily complements the rest of the flavors in the burger" with notes of cheddar and Monterey Jack. I would describe it was a savory, creamy sauce with just a bit of tang.
My initial impressions of the burger was that it was solid and very meaty but was not a marked departure from a bacon cheeseburger, which isn't a bad thing. Components that stood out were the beer cheese, which was present but not overpowering and the bun, which was hearty and a little rustic.
You can expect Jack's Brewhouse Bacon Burger to cost around $5.
