Starbucks Adds Almond Milk Option

Starting September 6, 2016, almond milk joins soy milk and coconut milk as a non-dairy alternative at Starbucks.

The new non-dairy option will be available at over 4,600 locations and will first arrive at stores in the Pacific Northwest, Northern California, New York, Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions with a national rollout to be completed by the end of September.

According to the chain, they created their own almond milk recipe that is designed to create a good amount of foam when steamed and to be creamy when served in cold drinks.

Starbucks first introduced a non-dairy alternative when they added soy milk back in 2004. Then, in February of last year, they added coconut milk, and now, almond milk. Interestingly, of the three, almond milk is the most popular, comprising over half of the non-dairy market, but somehow it's the last one they added.

Going with almond milk in your Starbucks beverage will run you an additional 60 cents.
