Burger King's Cheetos Chicken Fries feature the distinctive, formed white meat chicken "fries" covered in a Cheetos-flavored breading and then deep-fried.
An order of nine fries was
$3.19, which is the same price as
regular Chicken Fries.
While previous limited-time flavors of Chicken Fries have sported the same type of breading as the original, these have a more
panko-type (panko being Japanese-style breadcrumbs) of breading to them. The crumbs are more like tiny, crispy flakes rather than granules. The net effect is a more textured, craggy crispiness.
While these are not "dangerously cheesy," they do mimic a mild version of the Cheetos flavor, which turned out better than the previous
Mac 'n Cheetos. I still think they should just dust them with actual Cheetos or Cheetos cheese powder after frying. Or, maybe offer cheese dip to hit the right amount of cheesiness.
The chicken was moist and a bit on the salty side. It's the same smooth, spongy texture you get with most chicken nuggets.
Bottomline: Burger King's Cheetos Chicken Fries are good but not great. The panko-like breading works really well but I need me some more Cheetos.
