Wendy's Spicy Sriracha Chicken Sandwich features a Spicy Chicken filet, Sriracha aioli, thick-cut applewood-smoked bacon, a special Sriracha Jack cheese made just for the sandwich, red onion, spring mix, and a toasted Sriracha-infused bun.
It sells for
$5.69 in my area but I received one courtesy of Wendy's.
Wendy's went with a trio of Sriracha-infused ingredients: the bun, cheese, and sauce.
The bun was actually pretty spicy and deceptively so as the heat from it takes a moment to kick in. Beyond the heat, it tasted like a normal bun with a dense and soft texture.
The sauce was where most of the Sriracha quality was found. It contributed a slightly-smoky, garlicky, spicy, savory base with just a bit of tang.
The Sriracha Jack cheese appeared to be the mildest of the three. There was a nice creamy Jack flavor and just a bit of heat. It was thoroughly melted to a nice ooze.
While the spring mix started to wilted due to the temperature of the sandwich, the onions were left to provide a light watery crispness. The relatively moist Spicy Chicken filet looked to make up for the lack with a substantial and thick crunch as well as yet another dose of heat. The smoky bacon was also nice and crunchy.
Wendy's Spicy Sriracha Chicken Sandwich doesn't beat around the bush as far as the spicy heat is concerned. Beyond the heat, the flavors veer just a tad toward the subtle side of things, while still making for an enjoyable experience.
