Carl's Jr.'s Breakfast Burger features bacon, egg, hash browns, a charbroiled beef patty, American cheese, and ketchup on a toasted sesame seed bun.
It goes for
$5.29 at my local Carl's Jr. but I received this one courtesy of Carl's Jr.
For the most part, the Breakfast Burger tasted a lot like a regular burger with a lot of ketchup. For whatever reason, it had ketchup applied to the top and bottom halves of the bun. It's a fairly wide burger, especially for a breakfast sandwich (I'd guess it's about the same size as a
Famous Star or
Western Bacon Cheeseburger).
The breakfast components were a bit lackluster: the bacon was thin and limp with a very mild smoky taste; the hash browns were soft instead of crispy; and while, the egg was nice enough, there was only a relatively thin layer of it.
The bun, patty, and cheese were all pretty standard and decent but everything just ended up tangy and a little sweet from the double layer of ketchup.
Basically, Carl's Jr.'s Breakfast Burger wasn't all that enjoyable for me. It could have used twice the amount of eggs and half the amount of ketchup. Some sort of crunch thrown in there somewhere would also be nice.
