The new menu item features strips of chicken breast that are lightly breaded and seasoned "with simple ingredients that you find in your own pantry," and then deep-fried. The chain touts the new tenders as aimed at "fans who crave chicken tenders that taste like chicken, not just battered breading."
The move follows the recent release of Buttermilk Crispy Tenders by McDonald's.
New S'Awesome Sauce even looks a bit similar to McDonald's new Signature Sauce but sounds more like Chick-fil-A Sauce as it's described as "combining tangy, sweet, and smoky into one savory flavor." McDonald's new sauce is mentioned as being an "ideal balance of sweet and tangy flavors."
To entice you to try the new tenders, Wendy's is offering them in a new, limited-time $5 combo that includes three Chicken Tenders, small fries, and small drink (which is fairly comparable to Carl's Jr. and Hardee's new $5 Hand-Breaded Chicken Tenders All-Star Meal).
The new tenders can also be purchase separately or as part of a Kids Meal.
The suggested prices are $3.49 for a 3-piece order and $4.19 for a 4-piece order.
