Caribou Coffee Launches a Take on Boba and Adds New Line of Matcha Drinks

Caribou Coffee offers their own take on boba (chewy tapioca balls) with the debut of new Bubbles, chewy coconut jellies that you can add to any iced drink. They also have a new line of matcha (green tea) beverages.

The coconut jellies are flavored with caramel and are cubed rather than round. They're featured in a new line of Bubble Drinks that include Raspberry Green Tea, Caramel Cooler, and Matcha Tea Cooler.

Boba (and boba tea) originate from Taiwan but has become popular here in the US in areas with higher East Asian populations. Abroad, it's also quite popular in East and Southeast Asia and, oddly, is popular enough in Germany that McDonald's once offered it on a limited basis.

Matcha is a type of green tea powder that originates from Japan and is featured in two drinks at Caribou:

- Matcha Tea Cooler with Bubbles - Matcha powder, vanilla, half & half, and shake mix blended together and served over a layer of Bubbles.

- Matcha Vanilla Tea Latte - Matcha powder and vanilla mixed into steamed milk.
