Burger King's Jalapeno King features two quarter-pound Whopper beef patties, thick-cut bacon, pepper jack cheese, jalapenos, and new green chili aioli on a toasted sesame seed bun.
I paid
$6.19 for one.
Not sure if they ran out or made a mistake but my Jalapeno King had a slice of American cheese rather than pepper jack. I have found that fast food pepper jack tends to be very mild (as if the specks of peppers are just there for decoration) so I'm not sure it made much of a difference. That being said, the cheese melted nicely and added some creaminess to the proceedings.
They keep it pretty simple with the Jalapeno King, it's essentially a hefty and wide no-frills bacon cheeesburger with jalapenos and green chili aioli. Meat, cheese, bacon, plus the spicy components and that's it.
With the double patties, it's very meaty and decently moist but didn't quite deliver on any flame-grilled char. The bacon was a bit of a letdown. It wasn't crispy at all and was very mild in the smoke and pork department. Fortunately, the jalapenos were crunchy enough to make up for the lack in the bacon. They were moderately spicy and quite tangy. The green chili aioli delivered a mild note of jalapeno flavor to go with some heat and a slight tang and savory creaminess.
For the most part, Burger King's Jalapeno King turned out pretty well. It's very filling (if you're a light eater, you could easily save half for later) and kept it simple enough that I could actually taste each component. The quality was middling as far as major fast food burger chains go but I enjoyed the overall result.
