As with most years, 2018 saw a number of new fast food menu items. Some were conventional, some were pretty cheap, and some were just weird. And with that, here are
my picks for the best fast food dishes of 2018:
-
McDonald's Signature Crafted Garlic White Cheddar Burger - The fresh beef, made-to-order Quarter Pounder patties really upgraded McDonald's premium burgers and the Garlic White Cheddar Burger was my favorite of the lot. I'm a fan of garlic and there was plenty of it here as well as a surprisingly sharp slice of cheddar.
-
Subway's Ultimate Cheesy Garlic Bread - Featured in two sandwiches, the Ultimate Meatball Marinara and
Ultimate Spicy Italian, the bread offered some crunch and plenty of garlicky buttery goodness (although the one I got looked like someone sat on it).
-
Krispy Kreme's Cinnamon Swirl Donut - They took their cinnamon sugar donut and kicked it up with some tang, richness, and an extra dose of cinnamon.
-
Carl's Jr.'s Froot Loops Mini Donuts - They literally tasted like Froot Loops cereal in cake donut form (but kind of looked like Play-Doh with the frosting).
-
Taco Bell's Double Cheesy Gordita Crunch - I'm a fan of the Cheesy Gordita Crunch so it's no surprise that I'm a fan of the Cheesy Gordita Crunch with an extra layer of seasoned beef that costs less.
-
KFC Pickle Fried Chicken Sandwich - I thought this was going to be horribly sour but they went subtle with the pickled notes and rounded it out with a dose of dill that worked wonderfully.
