Butterfinger Now Available with "New and Improved" Recipe

Butterfinger candy bars made with a "new and improved" recipe can now be found at retailers nationwide.

The new recipes switches to "higher quality jumbo peanuts" for the candy bar's signature core and goes for a richer, more chocolaty outer coating that contains more cocoa than before. Additionally, they got rid of certain ingredients such as hydrogenated oils and TBHQ.

Packaging-wise, the bars now come a double-layered wrapper to better preserve freshness.

In case you're curious, here's the new ingredient list;

"Corn Syrup, Sugar, Peanuts, Vegetable Oil (Palm Kernel Oil and Palm Oil), Peanut Flour, Nonfat Milk, and Less than 2% of Cocoa, Milk, Salt, Yellow Corn Flour, Soy Lecithin, Natural Flavor, and Annatto Color."

For comparison's sake, here's the previous ingredient list:

"Corn Syrup, Sugar, Ground Roasted Peanuts, Hydrogenated Palm Kernel Oil, Cocoa, Molasses, Less Than 1% of Dairy Product Solids, Yellow Corn Flour, Salt, Nonfat Milk, Soy Lecithin, Monoglycerides, Soybean Oil, Annatto Color, Natural Flavor, Cornstarch, TBHQ, and Citric Acid (to Preserve Freshness)."

The new recipe comes about as the Butterfinger brand exchanged hands from Nestle to Ferraro about a year ago.
