The limited-time burger is being featured as part of a combo that costs $4.99. My local Jack in the Box has it for $3.99 by itself.
I found out that I could sub an egg roll instead of fries and an iced coffee in place of soda for no additional charge so I went with that for variety's sake.
It's very meaty with three patties but the beef was a little too dense, firm, and a little dry. The cheese fared better and was nicely melted. It matched the beef patties well and didn't do too much or too little.
The sauce is tangy and sweet but not as creamy or savory as Thousand Island or other similar "secret" sauces.
There actually wasn't all that much lettuce given the size of the Triple Bonus Jack but what was there provided a nice bit of crispness, while the pickles contributed a similar, but heartier, crunch as well as a sweet and sour bite. I found myself wishing for onions, though, for that extra depth of flavor.
Overall, Jack in the Box's Triple Bonus Jack turned out decently and makes for a good value. The patties were a bit worse than similar offerings at rival chains (at least on this visit) and I wasn't a fan of the secret sauce. It was infinitely better than the original Bonus Jack, which tasted like a bread sandwich on the few times I've had it in the past.
