Review: Burger King - Pulled Pork King

Burger King's Pulled Pork King features pulled pork, crispy onions, pickles, and Hot and Spicy BBQ sauce, on a toasted sesame seed bun.

I paid $7.19 for one and, like the rest of the King line, it was about the same size as a Whopper.

The pork was plentiful but, as with previous efforts, it was mushy and lacked a meaty texture. It seemed braised rather than smoked.

There was plenty of barbecue sauce and it packed a decent amount of heat and smoke but was mostly sweet. I was grateful for the pickles as the sourness helped tone down the sugary quality of the barbecue sauce.

The crispy onions contributed a thin crunch and a fairly robust onion flavor. Like the pickles, it provided welcomed variety to counter-balance the barbecue sauce.

The toasted sesame seed bun (which is the same as you get with the Whopper) did a fine job holding up against the pork and barbecue sauce, while delivering the soft and airy texture of a classic burger bun.

Overall, Burger King's Pulled Pork King was decent enough and plenty filling. I especially liked the crispy onions but it's quite pricey. You can get an actual smoked pulled pork sandwich for around the same price and even a frozen pulled pork sandwich might have a better texture as far as the pork goes.
