Review: Bubbies - Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Ice Cream Bites

Bubbies' Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Ice Cream Bites feature edible chocolate chip cookie dough surrounding a ball of vanilla chocolate chip ice cream.

An 8-oz box of six bites goes for $5.99 to $6.99 but I received this courtesy of Bubbies to commemorate National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day today (not to be confused with National Chocolate Chip day, which falls on May 15th).

Bubbies is best known for mochi ice cream but put out new Cookie Dough Ice Cream Bites this summer.

The idea for these seem to be that you get a snack-sized portion of ice cream with cookie dough in every bite.

The cookie dough was mostly smooth with a slight bit of grittiness. It is made of rice flour rather than wheat so that it is gluten-free. Flavor-wise, it offered a pleasant brown sugar sweetness and the occasional hints of creamy chocolate.

The ice cream was smooth and dense with a mild note of vanilla and the odd bit of chocolate chip here and there. It was more sweet than bittersweet or maybe the ice cream just covered up the bitter qualities.

When it comes down to it, Bubbies Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Ice Cream Bites were enjoyable enough and they got the cookie dough flavor down pat but I found myself wishing there was more chocolate.
