Review: My/Mo - Apple Pie a la Mode Mochi Ice Cream

My/Mo Apple Pie a la Mode Mochi Ice Cream features vanilla ice cream with a cinnamon apple center wrapped up in a soft mochi shell.

A 9.1-oz box of six mochi ice cream pieces is $5.99 or so but I received this courtesy of My/Mo.

For the most part, the mochi ice cream delivers on the apple pie with ice cream feeling although it's somewhat like getting a scoop of ice cream with a bite of apple pie given the way it's put together.

The ice cream was smooth and creamy with a pleasant vanilla flavor. Perhaps due to the cinnamon apple core, the ice cream was softer than in My/Mo's Pumpkin Spice mochi ice cream.

The filling offered a nice balance between cinnamon and apple that pairs well with the rich creaminess of the vanilla ice cream. Rather than any apple bits, the filling had an even, almost gel-like consistency.

The mochi with its soft stretchiness was an interesting stand-in for pie crust.

Overall, My/Mo Apple Pie a la Mode Mochi Ice Cream was pretty enjoyable as a mochi ice cream take on apple pie with ice cream although, if you're nibbling on it, it can feel just like plain vanilla mochi ice cream until you get to the middle.
