Arby's Beer Braised Beef sandwich features shredded beer-braised beef, beer cheese sauce, crispy onions, and beer pub mustard on a toasted pretzel bun.
It cost me
$6.49 for one.
The beef was meaty, juicy, and savory with a touch of beer flavor to it. It was tender but with enough texture to give a decent chew.
I'm not sure if it was the beef or a combination of the beef, cheese sauce, and mustard, but the fillings of the sandwich was all very wet. Beyond leaving my sandwich sitting in a puddle, I wasn't really able to discern the beer cheese sauce. The wasn't really an expected creaminess from it and the beer notes and tanginess could have easily been from the beef or mustard given how they ran into each other.
Sitting on top, the few crispy onions manage to stay decently crispy and contributed a slightly sweet caramelized onion quality.
The pretzel bun was dense and overly firm without much in the way of pretzel flavor. Compared to a regular bun, it didn't sop up any of the juices and was more prone to pushing the various fillings out as I bit into it.
When it comes down to it, Arby's Beer Braised Beef Sandwich was nice enough in the taste department but was severely wanting in the actual eating process due to the all-around wetness. I liked the braised beef in both taste and texture but would have liked a more discernible cheese and a better bun.
