Review: Wendy's - Seasoned Potatoes (2020)

Wendy's Seasoned Potatoes feature slices of skin-on potatoes that are lightly battered, fried, and seasoned with cracked black pepper and garlic powder.

A small order was $1.49.

These turned out really well. They were crispy and moderately seasoned on the outside, while moist and potato-y inside. They're cut into elongated half-moon slices.

The crust is paper-thin but with a delicate crunch that didn't fade even when the potatoes were cool. With a greater amount of potato inside, they take longer to dry out than the chain's French fries.

The seasoning offered a strong black pepper flavor (black pepper and maple seem to figure quite a bit into the new breakfast menu) with notes of garlic and onion and just the right amount of salt (they appear to be pre-seasoned so they should be fairly consistent compared to most French fries). I very much enjoyed the seasoning blend that they went with.

When it comes down to it, Wendy's Seasoned Potatoes might be the best part of their breakfast menu and merits offering all day (I like them much better than Wendy's fries).

Back when I tried this during testing (all the way back in 2012), they were called "Seasoned Home-Style Potatoes." They stilled looked and felt the same but weren't as peppery as they are now (not that I mind).
