Review: Einstein Bros. - Bagelrito

Einstein Bros. Bagelrito features two cage-free eggs, thick-cut bacon, turkey sausage, three cheeses (mozzarella, provolone, and cheddar), hash browns, salsa, and green chilies, and wrapped up in a flour tortilla and Asiago bagel dough before baking.

I bought one for $6.99.

The Bagelrito had a good amount of heft to it and was quite plump with filling. There was indeed a flour tortilla between the various fillings and the surrounding Asiago bagel shell but while I could see it clearly it didn't make much, if any, impact in terms of taste or texture. The bagel shell was really nice--it was warm, soft, and chewy with some slight crisping at the surface and just a bit of toasty Asiago flavor.

Inside, the Bagelrito was more of a mixed bag. The dispersal of the green chilies was very uneven. There were a few really spicy bites but the bulk of the Bagelrito wasn't spicy at all. The salsa didn't offer any heat and there didn't seem to be enough of it to add much fresh or tangy flavor.

The bacon and turkey sausage while present didn't provide the salty punch I expected. Instead, they were fairly mild and a little bland.

The three cheeses appeared to be mostly mozzarella as there was a nice, stretchy pull to the melted cheese. Unfortunately, there wasn't all that much flavor. It was creamy but could have used more cheddar or maybe some Swiss to punch it up. Additionally, there seemed to be some cream cheese in parts of the burrito but I found most of it at the very end.

The eggs and potatoes turned out okay. I probably could have used more of both as well some salsa or pico de gallo to pile in there.

Overall, I wanted to like Einstein Bros.' Bagelrito more than I did. While the bagel portion was great, the filling inside left me wondering of what could have been given a few tweaks here and there.
