The Beef Burrito is a new value menu item with prices starting at $1 (varying with location). It was $1.29 at one Taco Bell near me and $1.79 at another (Interestingly, the former location had its value menu at $1.29 across the board, while the latter's menu ranged from $1 to $1.79).
There aren't any surprises with the plainly-named and value-priced Beef Burrito. They've done the beef, cheese, and rice combination in a burrito on several occasions prior (for example, the Beefy Cheesy Burrito, the Triple Melt Burrito, and the Beefy Melt Burrito) so it may be overly familiar for some.
With only four components, it's the seasoned beef and rice that do a bulk of the work, which makes it a little surprising that they didn't call it the "Beef and Rice Burrito" instead. With little to distract from it, I actually caught a decent amount of the tanginess of the tomatoes in the rice to complement the seasoned beef.
The nacho cheese sauce was a minor player here and served mostly to layer in some creaminess. The mild cheese flavor and slight heat was mostly hiding out somewhere.
The Creamy Jalapeno sauce makes for the key difference from previous beef, rice, and cheese burritos but doesn't do much in the way of actual jalapeno flavor. Instead, it mostly contributes a spicy kick and a bit of richness.
Overall, Taco Bell's Beef Burrito was just fine. Beyond the unusual dryness of the tortilla of this visit, is a fairly unoffensive combination of signature Taco Bell ingredients that won't cost you too much money.
