Krispy Kreme's 2020 "Nicest Holiday Collection" features a trio of festive donuts: the new Festive Tree Donut, new Present Donut, and returning Santa Belly Donut.
A Holiday Dozen is $15.99 in my area but I received this courtesy of Krispy Kreme. It includes three of each of the featured holiday donuts plus three Chocolate Iced Glazed donuts with holiday sprinkles.
All the donuts were decorated pretty nicely and make for a good-looking holiday spread.
The Festive Tree Donut is a Red Velvet Cake Batter-filled donut dipped in cream cheese icing and decorated with a tree and star. The cream cheese icing didn't taste or feel much different than their regular icing. It might have been a little creamier. The Red Velvet Cake Batter delivered a creamy and mildly chocolaty flavor.
The Present Donut features a Sugar Cookie Kreme-filled donut dipped in green icing and decorated with a ribbon and sugar piece "nice" tag. I think sugar cookie is a difficult flavor to nail down as a sugar cookie is just a sweet vanilla flavor with some buttery notes. It's a bit of a popular flavor this holiday season but didn't taste all that different from the chain's regular cake batter here. The Present Donut had the largest sugar piece out of the three donuts (the star on the Festive Tree Donut and the buckle on the Santa Belly Donut are also sugar pieces). You could probably just drop it in your coffee in place of one sugar cube.
The Santa Belly Donut is a Chocolate Kreme-filled donut dipped in red icing and granulated sugar, and decorated with chocolate icing and a sugar piece belt. The Santa Belly is the most familiar of the bunch as a Chocolate Kreme filling pops up every now and again at Krispy Kreme where I can't remember a Red Velvet Cake Batter or Sugar Cookie Kreme being previously offered.
