The rectangular pizza features a rectangular shape with cheese sprinkled to the edges and is finished with a vine-ripened tomato sauce on top that is exclusive to the chain's Detroit-Style pizza.
Pizza Hut's Detroit-Style can be ordered in three different topping "recipes", including:
- Double Pepperoni - Topped with 32 slices of regular pepperoni and 48 slices of Crispy Cupped Pepperoni.
- Meaty Deluxe - Topped with bacon, Italian sausage, and Crispy Cupped Pepperoni.
- Supremo - Topped with Italian sausage, red onions, and green bell peppers.
You can also get it topped however you like with up to five toppings (previously, you could only get it with up to three toppings to ensure proper baking [not sure what's changed there]).
According to Pizza Hut, the Detroit-Style pizza sold out two weeks earlier than they projected nationally when they first launched it in January of this year and contributed to the chain's best quarterly sales in 10 years. That combined with customer demand resulted in its return, which the chain is calling, "the fastest we've brought back a pizza in over 10 years."
