The Crispy Chicken Sandwich Taco features white meat chicken marinated in jalapeno buttermilk, seasoned with "bold Mexican" spices, rolled in a crunchy tortilla chip coating, and then deep-fried until crispy. The chicken comes served folded with Creamy Chipotle sauce in a warm soft flatbread like a taco. A Spicy version, which simply adds pickled jalapeno slices, will also be available.
The suggested price on the Crispy Chicken Sandwich Taco comes out to $2.49 for one or $4.49 for two. It'll also come in a Crispy Chicken Sandwich Taco Box, which includes a Crispy Chicken Sandwich Taco, a Beefy 5-layer Burrito, crunchy taco, and medium fountain drink for a suggested price of $5.49 (may vary).
The Crispy Chicken Sandwich Taco was successfully tested earlier this year in the Nashville, TN and Charlotte, NC areas, which lead to the upcoming national launch.
To promote the new menu item, Taco Bell is pushing the idea of whether the Crispy Chicken Sandwich Taco is a taco or a sandwich to the point where they will be hosting two college debate teams, from the University of Georgia and Clemson University, to hold the "The Great Crispy Chicken Sandwich Taco Debate" on national TV via 4 ad spots to air during the Georgia vs Clemson college football game on ABC, which starts at 7:30 PM ET on Saturday, September 4, 2021. The debate will pit "Team it's a Sandwich" against "Team it's a Taco".
The new Crispy Chicken Sandwich Taco bears more than a passing resemblance to the Crispy Chicken Biscuit Taco they offered for breakfast once upon a time.
