The McRib features a seasoned boneless pork patty shaped vaguely like a mini rack of ribs served slathered with BBQ sauce and topped with slivered onions and pickles on a long cornmeal-dusted bun.
The seasonal sandwich typically returns once a year on a limited-time basis during the fall-to-winter months. Sometimes it returns nationally and sometimes only in select markets. It was first introduced in 1981 in Kansas City, KS so it's celebrating its 40th anniversary this year.
