The Sandwich Taco costs $1.49 and is slightly bigger than a slider in size.
Fortunately, I bought two of these because one of them was a dud that should have never left the kitchen.
The dud basically contained what I imagined to be leftovers from the fryer as it was barely filled with one round boneless fried chicken piece and one small ball of fried batter. The crust on the chicken was fairly craggy, crispy, and relatively thick. I couldn't tell it was made of tortilla chips as it felt like a fairly run-of-the-mill fried chicken crust. Taco Bell's previous fried chicken offerings had a lighter crust and more of a tortilla chip feel.
The chicken inside was surprisingly a whole cut rather than a ground chicken nugget. It was mostly moist and even juicy at parts. Both the chicken and crust were lightly seasoned (I didn't detect any bold spices) and carried a decent kick of heat (from the jalapeno buttermilk I assume). I would say it's slightly spicier than a McChicken patty.
The issue was there simply wasn't much chicken or fried batter to go around so I was left mostly eating soft flatbread flavored with smoky, tangy, and slightly-spicy Creamy Chipotle sauce.
The flatbread reminded me of the stuff that Arby's uses for their gyros and wraps. It had a fairly soft and uniform crumb and a slightly dry crust. There's a little more density and spring to it though.
The second Crispy Chicken Sandwich Taco was probably more the norm and came with a fairly thick and sizeable chicken tender that nestled securely in the flatbread. It seemed almost the perfect size for it. It was much more enjoyable as I got all three components in every bite. I actually weighed the two "tacos" and the subpar one was 73g while the second was 92g. That's a pretty big difference.
When it comes down to it, Taco Bell's Crispy Chicken Sandwich Taco didn't feel like a fast food chicken sandwich to me as the flatbread portion was a bit too heavy and substantial. That being said, as long as they don't give you the leftovers from the fryer, you get a pretty decent and spicy fried chicken tender with a mayo-based sauce in a novel flatbread for a very reasonable price. The chicken from the second one was probably the most generous piece of meat that I've ever gotten from Taco Bell.
