The Gracoro Burger is so named as a combination of the "gra" from gratin with the "koro" of "korokke" i.e. the Japanese way of saying "croquette." The Gracoro is a burger patty-sized croquette filled with shrimp and macaroni in a creamy white sauce with a crispy-fried panko shell.
The original Gracoro burger comes served with the Gracoro, cabbage, mayo, and croquette sauce (similar to Worcestershire sauce) on buttered and steamed buns.
This year, they're also offering the new Angus Beef Bolognese Gracoro, which comes topped with a Bolognese sauce made with ground Angus beef, tomatoes, and red wine.
The Gracoro burger is a winter tradition at McDonald's Japan and was first introduced in 1993.
