It's a slight variation on the Chalupa Supreme that cost me the same at $3.89.
There are only two difference between the new Chipotle Cheddar Chalupa and the Chalupa Supreme: shredded cheddar instead of 3-cheese blend and Creamy Chipotle sauce instead of reduced fat sour cream.
The cheddar didn't make any noticeable difference versus the 3-cheese blend (which also includes cheddar), but Taco Bell cheeses tend to be generically mild. The Creamy Chipotle sauce, on the other hand, added quite a bit of extra flavor versus sour cream with light smoky, seasoned notes and a decent kick of heat.
Beyond the two changes, I got the well-trod combination of seasoned beef, lettuce, and tomato that seems to underpin a bulk of the Taco Bell menu. The seasoned beef was heavily seasoned, while the lettuce and tomato were relatively crisp and firm respectively but also a little pale and expectedly bland. The Chalupa shell offered the same pillowy texture as the Gordita shell but with a slightly crisped and oily exterior.
All in all, Taco Bell's Cheddar Chipotle Chalupa was enjoyable and familiar as a variant of the Chalupa Supreme that won't cost you extra for the sauce and cheese change.
