It goes for $6.59 in my area but I received this one courtesy of Wendy's.
The filet that I got was pretty fresh with a moderately spicy, satisfyingly crispy crust and juicy chicken inside. It was also extra-long with a length that extended well past the edges of the bun.
The hot honey sauce was sweet and spicy in equal measure, accented with a fruitiness from the peppers.
The crispy-fried pickle chips were plentiful and salty but not overly so. There was a light crispy crust to them and tangy dill flavor. However, they're cut a bit on the small side and fell out of the sandwich quite a bit (but that was partially because there were so many of them). They make for some pretty nice eating on their own and I prefer them over other pickle chips I've tried as they're not as sour and salty.
The Pepper Jack added a nice creamy, gooey quality but, between the spicy chicken filet and the hot honey sauce, I couldn't pick out any extra spicy notes from it.
Wendy's bacon, while normally very enjoyable, was the odd man out. With the various sweet, spicy, tangy, salty, and savory notes, the smoky pork of the bacon got lost in the shuffle.
In terms of overall heat, the Hot Honey Chicken Sandwich was good for an even burn on the tongue but it never got too uncomfortable.
When it comes down to it, Wendy's Hot Honey Chicken Sandwich was tasty enough and solidly put together, but tried to do too much from a flavor standpoint. It's the first Wendy's sandwich/burger I've had where I couldn't taste the bacon over the many other flavors. I would have liked it better if they kept it to a more simple combination of pickle chips, hot honey sauce, chicken, and bun (pickle chips, mayo, chicken, and bun would probably also work really well).
