Mtn Dew Baja Gold features Mountain Dew soda with pineapple flavor and is a limited-time offering in Mountain Dew's line of Baja sodas.
A 20-oz bottle retails for $1.99 in my area, but I received this courtesy of PepsiCo.
Mtn Dew Baja Gold had an aroma that was a mixture between pineapple candy and freshly-cut pineapple, with a tart and almost juicy burst at the tail end. It smelled amazing.
The color of the soda left a lot to be desired, however. It looked a little too similar to urine for my taste, but I'm not sure that any shade of yellow liquid would be successful.
Flavor-wise, Mtn Dew Baja Gold was not too sweet and crisply refreshing upon first taste. There was an initial hit of pineapple flavor, including just the barest hint of tartness, that faded quickly into a somewhat bitter note that was quite confusing to me. The aftertaste lingered for a fairly long time but was more of a mouthfeel than any specific flavor.
Overall, Mtn Dew Baja Gold was just all right. Although the soda smelled delicious, the odd bitter note at the end and strange aftertaste kind of ruined it for me.
