A 9.25-oz bag carries a suggested price of $5.59 but I received these courtesy of Doritos.
I'm not exactly sure what tamarind tastes like although I've had it a few times in some Indian curries as well as as candy. I do know that it's quite sour though.
I can tell you that these Tangy Tamarind Doritos chips have a funky, spicy aroma and tangy almost lime-like flavor paired with a funky savory quality as well a bit of spicy heat. It's an interesting combination that's not bad but it wouldn't be my choice to buy a bag. That being said, if I saw them at a party, I'd probably have a few.
Overall, Doritos Tangy Tamarind-flavored tortilla chips struck me as a fairly polarizing chip that you might like it you prefer something a bit more off the beaten path (or maybe not-so-much-off-the-beaten-path if you encounter tamarind somewhat regularly) or like a sour base to your chips. I would say it's worth a try but you might not love it.
