A 16-oz can retails for approximately $1.49, but I received this courtesy of the Coca-Cola Company.
The Mango Aguas Frescas had an amazing aroma and smelled like ripe mango. The aroma was quite strong and was immediately apparent upon opening the can. The pale yellow color of the beverage didn't call to mind mango, which I usually associate with a rich yellow orange, but that may be due to the amount of actual juice in the Mango Aguas Frescas (three percent).
There was a robust, fresh mango flavor to the Mango Aguas Frescas that was very juicy and refreshing. It tasted so much like actual mango that I was frankly surprised by the low juice content.
Unfortunately, the Mango Aguas Frescas was extremely sweet due to the combination of mango's natural sweetness and the sucralose. The sweetness hit me like a truck, and I found myself unable to drink beyond a few sips. While the sucralose was masked fairly well, the telltale bitter aftertaste of artificial sweetener became apparent on the tail end of the sip and lingered.
Overall, I found the Mango Aguas Frescas to be a mixed bag. While it had a wonderfully juicy aroma and fresh mango flavor, it also suffered from excessive sweetness and the unnecessary addition of the artificial sweetener. I honestly think the beverage would have fared better without the sucralose.
