I paid $2.79 for a 4-piece order.
As far as fast food French toast sticks go, Wendy's version is surprisingly thin (like if you flattened some sliced white bread while pan-frying some French toast) but, fortunately, the sticks were fairly crispy at the crust with a moist crumb. The surface of the crust was that curiously smooth, toasted texture that some fast food buns have.
Flavor-wise, Wendy's Homestyle French Toast Sticks were lightly sweet with a custardy taste inside with a notable (but not overbearing) vanilla flavor. It paired very well with the sugary, caramel notes from the thin syrup.
Altogether, Wendy's Homestyle French Toast Sticks actually felt like French toast rather than a deep-fried cinnamon-y breadstick or not-so-crispy, fried sweet bread that sometimes passes for fast food French toast. Here, I could taste the custard and vanilla, and it was decently crispy, which is great in my book.
