Review: Yoshinoya - Gyoza

Yoshinoya's Gyoza are potsticker dumplings filled with pork, ginger, garlic, and green onions that are flash-fried and steamed.

An order of 10 Gyoza cost me $5 and comes with gyoza dipping sauce.

Visually, the Gyoza looked nice with a burnt sear to them but my particular order of Gyoza seemed to have been sitting in the warmer for a bit as the crimped edges were overly chewy but also with a hard crunch. The rest of the dumpling skin fared better with a thin, chewy skin that wasn't overly delicate.

The Gyoza filling was a moist and lightly-flavored combination of pork and aromatics that went well with the dipping sauce.

The gyoza dipping was offered a fairly standard mix of savory soy sauce and vinegary tang. It went well with the mild flavor of the dumplings.

Overall, Yoshinoya's Gyoza turned out pretty well except for the overcooked edges. They're fairly comparable to something you'd buy frozen and have to cook for yourself from the supermarket, which isn't a bad thing.
