It cost me $4.49 for an order. I think they ran out of lids because my order came in a Mexican Pizza box.
The fries were decently crispy underneath the nacho toppings and their seasoned flavor held up well against the other ingredients.
As far as the 7 layers go, they're made of a familiar line-up of regular Taco Bell components, which makes for a familiar combination of tastes and textures. For a plate of nacho fries, the cheese portion doesn't really stand out between the modest amount of nacho cheese sauce and mild shredded cheddar.
Taco Bell's black beans actually have a nice flavor but there wasn't enough of them to go around to make a decent showing. The sour cream seemed superfluous as there are already tangy notes from the more flavorful Creamy Chipotle sauce and guacamole and creamy notes from the Creamy Chipotle and cheeses.
The tomatoes added a fresh crispness but not much flavor, which was fairly typical of Taco Bell tomatoes in my experience. The guacamole was made with a revamped recipe that, looking at the ingredients, appears to require that employees mix avocado pulp with tomatoes, onions, and a seasoning sauce. It was fairly tangy as far a guac goes with a pretty smooth texture. I'm not sure it's all that different from the previous version.
The ground beef's seasoned flavor stood up well as it usually does for that classic Taco Bell flavor.
When it comes down to it, Taco Bell's 7-Layer Nacho Fries made for a rather pedestrian vehicle for featuring their fries and new guacamole as it offered regular menu flavors that were slightly redundant and imbalanced. It felt like they could have just topped the fries with more beans and cheese and the same amount of guacamole and beef for a much better, more delineated flavor.
