Burger King's Semla Burger features a layer of marzipan cream, a brownie "patty", and a layer of whipped cream sandwiched between two halves of a pearl-sugar-topped cardamon bun.
The dessert burger represents Burger King's take on a semla or Mardi Gras bun, which is a Swedish sweet bun that was once only eaten before the fasting period of Lent on Fat Tuesday (i.e. Mardi Gras). Nowadays, you can find them in Sweden and several nearby countries, including Denmark, a little after Christmas through Easter (similar to how we find fast food fish sandwiches here in the US).
The semla is typically a cardamon-spiced wheat bun filled with almond paste (which is similar to marzipan) and whipped cream. Originally, it was just a plain bun that was soaked in warm/hot milk before eating but, apparently, people eventually got tired of that and added almond paste and whipped cream at some point. The addition of the brownie appears to be Burger King's attempt to make it look more like a burger.
